Kay Charlton is a trumpet player, educator and composer. She plays the trumpet with Bollywood Brass Band (BBB) who have toured and recorded extensively and she leads on their education work through the Bollywood Brass Academy. Kay has extensive experience of teaching and leading music workshops in many parts of the UK and abroad, both alone and as part of BBB. She loves performing and listening to music from around the world and she is familiar with music from many styles and genres, from Jazz and classical to Bollywood songs.
She completed an MA in Music Education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018, and was delighted to be awarded the Director’s Prize for Excellence in Music Education. Kay is a regular contributor to Music Teacher Magazine, has been guest lecturer on instrumental tuition at Leeds College of Music and Trinity Laban and has written resources for LSO Discovery and LPO Creative Classrooms.
Her passion for making music fun and accessible has led to the composition of brass/wind tutor books for beginners (Spartan Press) and examination pieces for Trinity College London. Her book of whole-class repertoire and backing tracks ‘Are You Ready?’ (Warwick Music) has also been converted into a series of online tutorials by MusicGurus, and she has delivered workshops based on this repertoire and her aural approach at education conferences, the Music and Drama Education Expo and as CPD sessions for music hubs.

Mike King has been involved in the music industry for over 20 years since signing a record deal at the age of 17. He has worked as a vocal coach on The Voice UK, helped smash a Guinness World Record by conducting 5,000 singers at Wembley Arena and directs choirs worldwide.
He was a lecturer at Goldsmiths University of London for 12 years and was a guest vocal tutor at the University of East London and London Metropolitan University. He has worked with multi-GRAMMY® winning artists including Angelique Kidjo, Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Rihanna), as well as singers such as Boy George, Lily Allen and Florence Welch.
Mike coaches an array of singers in the music industry both professional and amateur. From one to one vocal sessions, tour and performance preparation, artist development and as a vocal producer assisting singers during the recording process.As a talented vocal arranger, Mike has been commissioned to arrange songs for various choirs and projects including BBC Radio, the 2012 Olympic Games and the prestigious PFA Awards. He was recently asked by Princess Productions to arrange and musical direct a live TV performance of David Bowie’s ‘Starman’ for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4 and produce the Breathe Harmony NHS choir single during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Mike facilitates and runs vocal workshops and masterclasses internationally working with community based projects, professional choirs and at music institutions in the UK, Europe, USA and Caribbean. His clients include West End performers and signed artists, most notably Lola Young – recently signed to Capital Records.
